invisalign
INVISALIGN
is the latest alternative to braces, allowing you to straighten your teeth while wearing a series of clear, removable aligners that are custom fit for each individual patient. The durable aligners are virtually invisible, and do not interfere with speech. For more information please visit www.invisalign.com.

BRACESToday’s braces are generally less noticeable than those of the past when a metal band was placed around each tooth. Typically only the molars have a band around them, and the front teeth have brackets bonded directly to each of the teeth. Brackets can be metal or ceramic, with your choice of the color of ties that hold the wire in the bracket. Conventional or metal brackets are the most common, which allow you to choose the color of ties that hold the bracket onto the wire. We have a wide variety of colors that can be changed at each appointment. Ceramic or clear braces are less noticeable and ideal for older teens and adults.

RPE The palatal expansion appliance is used in children who have a narrow upper jaw, which does not allow adequate room for their permanent teeth to erupt. This appliance can expand the width of the upper jaw, making the teeth and jaws fit together better by creating space. The RPE is usually left in the mouth for several months in order to stabilize the teeth and jaw in their new positions.

WILSON - The Wilson appliance is used in conjunction with braces, it is placed in the mouth with only four braces on the top teeth, and worn with elastics to correct the bite. One of the benefits of the Wilson appliance is that it allows Dr Ohmart to correct the bite before all of the braces are on, therefore the patient does not have to wear full braces for as long a period of time.

LLA - The lower lingual arch, or LLA can be used to maintain space while waiting for permanent teeth to erupt.

RETAINERS After your braces are removed; teeth can shift out of position. Failure to wear your retainers according to directions may result in minor, or sometimes significant tooth movement. Retainers can also be used for minor movement of teeth for someone that does not need braces.

X-RAYS AND PHOTO’SDr. Ohmart will need a complete set of records to identify and determine the best course of treatment for each patient. For your convenience, we provide on-site equipment for the necessary records, including digital x-rays, photographs, and plaster study models of your teeth.

Re-call
When a child is seen for the first time at an early age, often times they are not ready for orthodontic treatment. If Dr. Ohmart decides that your child is not quite ready to begin treatment, we will place them on our re-call program. This program allows Dr. Ohmart to monitor your childs jaw growth, and evaluate for adequate room to allow their permanent teeth to erupt. Our re-call patients will normally be seen in 6-12 month intervals. Our re-call program is complimentary, however, if Dr. Ohmart decides an additional x-ray is needed during this time, a nominal fee may apply.
